Rome

Four days in Rome meant plenty of history, great food, and a lot of walking. Between the big sights—the Colosseum, Vatican, and Pantheon—I also made time to enjoy the city at a slower pace, with coffee stops and long dinners. I also took a day trip to Florence to see the Duomo and soak up a different side of Italy. Here’s how the trip went.

Day 1: Vatican City & The Sistine Chapel

I kicked off the trip with a deep dive into Vatican City. The Vatican Museums were packed, but the sheer amount of art and history made it worth it. The highlight, of course, was the Sistine Chapel—seeing Michelangelo’s ceiling in person is one of those things that actually lives up to the hype. After that, I walked around St. Peter’s Basilica before grabbing a well-earned plate of pasta and a drink to end the day.

Day 2: Day Trip to Florence

An early train took me to Florence for a quick but packed visit. I started at the Duomo, climbed to the top for the views, and wandered through the historic center. I made a quick stop at Ponte Vecchio, checked out Piazza della Signoria, and had just enough time for a proper Tuscan meal before heading back to Rome in the evening.

Day 3: Exploring Rome & Watching the Euros

After a busy couple of days, I took things slower, checking out some of Rome’s other big landmarks—the Colosseum, Pantheon, and Trevi Fountain. In the evening, the focus shifted to football, with the Euros semi-final against the Netherlands.

Day 4: Taking It Easy

With no big plans, I spent the last day just enjoying Rome—walking around, stopping for coffee, and making the most of the city’s food scene. A relaxed way to wrap up the trip before heading home.
